“He Will TAKE”
1 Samuel 8:1-22
Israel Demands a King,
America wants “Change”!
1And it came about when Samuel was old
that he appointed his sons judges over Israel.
2Now the name of his firstborn was
Joel, and the name of his second, Abijah; they were judging in Beersheba.
3His sons, however, did not walk in
his ways, but turned aside after dishonest gain and took bribes and perverted
justice.
4Then all the elders of Israel
gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah;
5and they said to him, "Behold,
you have grown old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint a king
for us to judge us like all the nations."
6But the thing was displeasing in the
sight of Samuel when they said, "Give us a king to judge us " And Samuel prayed to the LORD.
7The LORD said to Samuel, "Listen
to the voice of the people in regard to all that they say to you, for they have
not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being
king over them.
8"Like all the deeds which they
have done since the day that I brought them up from Egypt even to this day--in
that they have forsaken Me and served other gods--so they are doing to you
also.
9"Now
then, listen to their voice; however, you shall solemnly warn them and tell
them of the [a]procedure of the king
who will reign over them."
Warning concerning a King
10So Samuel
spoke all the words of the LORD to the people who had asked of him a king.
11He said,
"This will be the procedure of the king who will reign over you: he will take your sons and place
them for himself in his chariots and among his horsemen and they will run
before his chariots.
12"He
will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and of fifties, and some to do
his plowing and to reap his harvest and to make his weapons of war and
equipment for his chariots.
13"He will also take your daughters
for perfumers and cooks and bakers.
14"He will take the best of your
fields and your vineyards and your olive groves and give them to his servants.
15"He will take a tenth of your
seed and of your vineyards and give to his officers and to his servants.
16"He will also take your male
servants and your female servants and your best young men and your donkeys and
use them for his work.
17"He will take a tenth of your
flocks, and you yourselves will become his servants.
18"Then
you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for
yourselves, but the LORD will not answer you in that day."
19Nevertheless,
the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel, and they said, "No,
but there shall be a king over us,
20that we
also may be like all the nations, that our king may
judge us and go out before us and fight our battles."
21Now after
Samuel had heard all the words of the people, he repeated them in the LORD'S
hearing.
22The LORD
said to Samuel, "Listen to their voice and appoint them a king." So
Samuel said to the men of Israel, "Go every man to his city."
In America we do not have an “official” king, which of the following
might fit that “king” description today?
1.
President
of the United States
2.
Governor
of a State
3.
Mayor of
a City
4.
Any government
agency
5.
All of
the above
6.
None of
the above
The King James Hebrew word for “take” in these scriptures is
“laqach”. There are many different
words found in the King James Bible for “laqach” including:
1.
Accept
2.
Buy
3.
Receive
4.
Seize
5.
Win
Question: Which one do you think best describes “take” in 1 Samuel 8?
Answer:
I found 125 definitions for “take” in the secular dictionary,
including:
1.
To get
into one’s hands, possession, control, etc. by force
2.
To seize
or capture.
3.
To carry
off without permission.
Taking into consideration our culture changes etc from the time of
Samuel, the following will better describe what our American “kings” i.e.
government of today and past have “taken”.
11He said,
"This will be the procedure of the king who will reign over you: he will take your sons and place
them for himself in his chariots and among his horsemen and they will run
before his chariots. 12"He
will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and of fifties, and some to do
his plowing and to reap his harvest and to make his weapons of war and
equipment for his chariots
They will be:
1. Drafted into military service
2. The will be first on the firing line
3. The commanders, i.e. bosses will be hand
chosen
4. Drafted into civil service jobs (Governments
in the U.S. are the largest employers in the WORLD”!
5. Some will be tax collectors
6. Some will work at the Post Office, etc.
13"He will also take your daughters
for perfumers and cooks and bakers.
God never intended for women/mothers/wives to be in the secular work
force, but the king takes them to do so!
The Word of God says”
1.
“Women will be saved through childbearing if …” NIV KJV
NAS 1 Timothy 2:15 Read it all!
2.
“A fruitful vine within the house” NIV KJV NAS, Living
Bible says “content at home” Psalms 128:3
3.
“Busy at home” NIV or “Keepers
at home” KJV or “Workers at Home” NAS Titus 2:4-5
4.
“Manage their home” NIV or “Guide

Timothy 5:14
Who first said, “A WOMAN’S PLACE IS IN THE HOME”, God did!
Commentary:
A woman who spends much time in visiting must neglect her family. Instead of "keepers
of the house" or "keepers at home,"
some manuscripts have "workers at home,"
that is not only staying in the house and keeping the house, but working in the
house "that the
word of God be not blasphemed."
The enemies of the gospel are quick-eyed to spy out imperfections in its
professors; and if they find women professing Christianity living an irregular
life, they will not fail to decry the Christian doctrine on this account.
(Adam Clark 1762-1832)
The following are possible consequences of a mother working outside the
home.
1. She may blaspheme scripture -
Titus 2:5.
2. She may bring reproach to God
- 1 Timothy 5:14.
3. God’s judgment: “She is loud and defiant, her feet never stay home” -
Proverbs 7:11.
4. She may endanger her marriage
- Matthew 6:24.
5. God’s judgment will come upon
her, her family, her country - Isaiah 3 Read all but focal 12, 16-26.
My conclusions: If the 85% of working women in America were to return to
the home, this would be the result:
GOD is the head of Christ.
Christ is the head of man.
Man is the head of woman.
My conclusion: And Woman is the head of her home. (See Titus, 1 Timothy and Psalms above.)
Truth: I close this scripture by reminding each of us that when Eve committed
sin God first went to Adam and confronted him with his sin. What was Adam’s
sin? Silence, see Genesis 3:6. Adam was
responsible for sin entering the world, see Romans 5:12a. Adam was with her and watched her sin and was
“silent” Who are you watching? Are you silent? Ecclesiastes 3:7b “a time to be silent
and a time to speak,” What time is it?
My answer is, a time to speak!
14"He will take the best of your
fields and your vineyards and your olive groves and give them to his servants.
1. Your prime real
estate he can/will take using “eminent domain”. (Ask about my personal
experience.)
2. Your business he can/will
take.
3. Your income he can/will
take.
4. He gives your wealth to his “hand chosen
friends/servants”, i.e. politicians, cronies, etc.
15"He will take a tenth of your
seed and of your vineyards and give to his officers and to his servants.
1.
10% of
your savings he takes.
2.
10% of
you income he takes.
3.
He pays/bribes
the politicians and cronies with your money!
16"He will also take your male
servants and your female servants and your best young men and your donkeys and
use them for his work.
1. He takes both men and
women, including the very best to …
2. Uses them to further
his desires, his wants, his work?
17"He will take a tenth of your
flocks, and you yourselves will become his servants.
He takes yet another 10% of your wealth, 30%++ resulting
in you and I becoming his: Servant!
Truth: Today in America the top 20% of income producers pay 80% of the
income taxes, i.e. the cost of government. 42% of Americans with incomes pay NO income tax;
it will soon be 50%. Where will it end?
Finally:
18"Then
you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for
yourselves, but the LORD will not answer you in that day."
If you are like me, you do not like 1 Samuel 8:18!
Is verse 18 True? Yes, Yes, God’s Word is
without error and God never, never changes or lies!
Does 1 Samuel 8:18 nullify 2 Chronicles 7:14? “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Truth: 1 Samuel 8:18b says “but the Lord will not answer you in that day." “I know that Christ is coming again and he will answer my prayers through the rapture of Christians out of this world. Meanwhile as for me and my house we will serve the Lord! Joshua 24:15 And continue to pray 2 Chronicles 7:14!
But …
19Nevertheless,
the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel, and they said,
"No, but there shall be a king over us,
20that we
also may be like all the nations, that our king may
judge us and go out before us and fight our battles."
Truth: Samuel was not silent, none the less the
people did not listen to him. You and I
are not responsible for how people deal with the Truth, whether they accept or
reject it, our responsibility is to Speak the Truth!
Truth: it is not the judgment of the little
“king” in verse 20 that counts, but rather “The King of Kings”!
One World Government?
One World Currency?
One World King?
King Barack Hussein Obama ?
Silence
Martin
Niemoeller, a German pastor imprisoned for opposing the Nazis, illustrated the
gravity of remaining silent:
“In
Germany, they first came for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up because I
wasn’t a Communist. Then they came for
the Jews, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for the
Catholics, and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for
me, and by that time no one was left to speak up.”
The
lesson is clear: either we speak up with the truth, or we lose cherished
liberties.
It is time for us to make
up with the God of the Bible and crown Him once again as our King!
Amen!
Yes, I know many of you will reject this writing! If you can quote me scriptures, not what you
feel or what you think, but rather scriptures from God’s Word that counter any
of the above I wish to hear from you.
Remember Proverbs 27:17 NASB
“Iron sharpens iron, So
one man sharpens another.”
